Financial Coaching

Financial Coaching

Through a tailored one-on-one experience, the purpose of this service is to empower immigrants and refugees in the Tampa Bay area by providing financial knowledge and resources so they can make better financial decisions.

A volunteer coach helps our clients understand the American financial system and to navigate their personal circumstances. Coaches provide guidance about a wide range of common financial topics like building credit, buying a car, buying a home, and preparing for retirement, and can also provide insight about educational and career questions, as well as point the beneficiaries to the right community services and resources that might be helpful for them.

Coaching is an essential part of Project Prosper’s Loan Program, but it is not required to get one of our loans to access a financial coach. It is also not necessary to have previously participated in our Financial Literacy Program.

Coaching sessions are usually once a month for around one hour, and they can be either in person or online. The client selects the subjects they are interested in learning about so the sessions best fit their needs and concerns. There is not a limit on the maximum number of coaching sessions a client can have. We want clients to take the most advantage of this incredible service!

This resource is free and available for immigrants and refugees in the counties of Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, and Manatee.
